Larry Miles Kemmerling, 76, passed away June 15, 2025 in his Temple residence.
He was the loving husband of Sandra (Delp) Kemmerling, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage.
Born May 8, 1949, he was the son of the late Miles Alfred and Geraldine (Heckman) Kemmerling.
As a proud Marine Corps veteran, Larry served his country during the Vietnam War. His bravery and commitment earned him numerous honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Larry began his career at Carpenter Technology, where he worked for several years before transitioning to Agway as a fuel oil truck driver. Subsequently, he founded his own fuel oil company, LMK, Inc., which he successfully ran for many years. He ended his career with PennDOT, where he served as an equipment operator until his retirement in 2019.
He loved drag racing in high school, enjoyed tinkering with cars and loved watching western movies.
Larry was a member of the Marine Corps League.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his two daughters: Lori Shakespeare, wife of Daniel of Hamburg and Wendy M. Drake, wife of Brian T. of Howey in the Hills, FL.
Also surviving are his seven grandchildren: Alyssa Jacobs, Shawna Moore (Nathan), Jacob Richards, Casey Shakespeare, Brick Shakespeare, Brooklyn Waithe, and Destiny Shakespeare; and his 14 great grandchildren: Kindra, Kayden, Owen, Ian, Chase, Lexa, Oliver, Brydan, Grayson, Braxton, Andre, Hope, Kenny, and Elijah.
Larry is also survived by his sister, Barbara Grimes of Shartlesville.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Salem Shalters Lutheran Church, 2032 Mt. Laurel Road, (Alsace Twp.) Fleetwood, PA. A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m.
