Leah Eckenroth Obituary

Leah Ann Eckenroth, 83, of Heidelberg Township and previously of Oley Township, passed away on January 20, 2024 in the Tower Health Reading Hospital.

She was the wife of Thomas F. Eckenroth who predeceased her, dying in 2017. 

Born on July 3, 1940 in Johnstown, Pa, she was the daughter of the late Delbert D. and Alberta J. (Scott) Phillips.

Leah graduated in 1958 from Somerset (Pa). Area High School and in 1962 from Indiana (Pa).

She was employed as an elementary school teacher for Red Lion, Brandywine and Schuylkill Valley School Districts. She was also employed by the Berks County Housing Authority for twenty years. 

She was an excellent pianist and also a talented artist. 

Leah and Tom loved gardening and won many awards annually for their vegetables at the Oley Fairs.

Surviving are her siblings; Alan D. Phillips and Judith R. Glazier, both of Richmond, Virginia, her nephews, Christopher and Michael Phillips, a niece Jennifer Jones and her daughters Victoria and Kimberly. In addition, she is survived by several grandnephews, grandnieces and great grand nephews and a niece.

Also surviving are her brother and sister in laws; Geraldine Stamm, Penny Eckenroth, William Eckenroth and wife Eileen, Louise Ziegler and husband Lou, Robert Eckenroth and wife Sharon, and many nieces, nephews and grand/great grand nieces and nephews. Relatives that predeceased her are Marvin Stamm, Kenneth Eckenroth, Raymond Eckenroth and wife Lois, Catherine Dunlap and husband George.

She will be missed and forever remembered lovingly inn our hearts. A memorial service will be held at the home of Robert and Sharon Eckenrroth, Robesonia, Pa.
