Leo J. Peters, Jr., 75 formerly of Temple, passed away peacefully on October 15 while residing at Brethren Village,
Lititz, PA. He was the husband of Patricia (Sassaman) Peters, they were married for 53 years.
Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Leo J. and Naomi G. (Daniels) Peters, Sr.
Leo attended Oley Valley High School. After graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Kittyhawk as a Boatswain’s Mate during
the Vietnam War. He also spent time on Midway Island. Leo was employed by Brush Wellman and later retired from
QuakerMade Meats as a maintenance mechanic and electrician.
He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and taking care of his 18 acre farmette, where he would often be found working on his property and cutting wood. He loved the outdoors and
his 2 golden retrievers, Toby and Benni. Many years were spent fishing in Canada with friends and family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his former son in law Marcus, husband of Ann Jurgensen of Lancaster, and grandchildren:
Matthew, Evan and Maija Jurgensen, all of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Lisa M. Jurgensen (Peters) in 2017. A private graveside service will be held at
the request of the family at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster.
