Lester L. Delp

Lester L. Delp, 97, of Oley, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. 

He was the widower of Dorothy (Young) Delp who passed away February 12, 2014. 

Born September 29th, 1928, in Oley, PA, he was the son of the late Walter Delp and Una (Kline) Delp. 

Lester attended Alsace high school up until 10th grade and later went on to work at Linettes Candy Factory in Reading. When he was 17 he decided to enlist in the Navy and honorably served our country in WW2. He was stationed on the USS Little Rock while deployed. Lester was proud of his service and was a member of the Oley Legion. 

When he returned home Lester worked as a pattern maker for Hamburg Pattern Works and Empire Steel in Temple, PA for over 30 years. In Lester’s free time he enjoyed the peace and quiet of the outdoors. He loved going hunting and fishing at his deer camp. Lester would hunt for deer and small game or be fishing for trout. He would also vacation and salt water fish at Barnegat Bay in New Jersey. His family meant the world to him. Lester would look forward to spending holidays and family events with his grandchildren. 

Surviving are two children, David Delp, husband of Cheryl (Ohlinger) Delp of Reading, PA, and Linda (Delp) Kramer, wife of David Kramer of Bernville, PA. 

Also surviving are four grandchildren: Jessica Scholz; Jason Gerhard; Julie Mull; and Mark Delp. 

Lester leaves behind four great grandchildren: Bridget; Clayton; Rhys; and Ryan. As well as one sister, June (Delp) Ellis. 

He was predeceased by 4 siblings: Pearl; Pauline; Norman; and Russell. Lester also was predeceased by two children, Joyce Delp and Mark Delp. 

A service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Oley. A viewing will take place prior from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the same location. Burial will follow the service at Spies Zion Cemetery.
