Lynwood “Slime” Roy Weil, 73, of Amity Township, died January 9, 2021 in Pottstown Hospital.
He was the husband of Joan Mae (Adams) Weil, whom he married June 2, 1981.
Born in Pottstown Hospital on July 10, 1947, he was a son of the late Donald Roy Weil and Pearl Marguerite (Wert) Weil.
He was a 1966 graduate of Daniel Boone High School.
Lynwood was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Douglassville.
He was employed 13 years as a laborer with Firestone Tire & Rubber.
Lynwood was later employed in the same capacity for 33 years with Boyertown Foundry, before retiring as a forklift operator in 2014.
He loved dirt track and and NASCAR racing.
Lynwood got his start in racing by working on his father-in-law’s race cars at Reading Fairgrounds.
He later worked on cars at Grandview Speedway and finished up his racing career by helping the Merkel boys.
Lynwood was a life member of the Pike Township Sportsman’s Association and a member of the Amity Fire Company.
He is also survived by two siblings: Wayne, husband of Theresa Weil of Boyertown and Linda (Weil), widow of Anthony Miller of Birdsboro.
A viewing will be held Friday, January 15th from 9:30 – 11:00 am in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. 423 Main Street, Oley, with services beginning at 11:00 am.
Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Amityville.
