Margaret L. “Peggy” Tobias, 87, of Muhlenberg Township, died June 10, 2024, at Berks Heim, Bern Township, where she was a resident for the past month.
She was the loving wife of Ronald P. Tobias with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.
Born May 17, 1937, in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Ernest R. Stout and June B. (Potteiger), widow of Richard Maurer. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, George Turner, who she considered her second father.
Peggy was a 1955 graduate of Wilson High School. She also graduated from McCann School of Business.
She was employed for a short time as a secretary in the administrative offices at Reading Hospital before becoming a full-time wife and mother, which was her most satisfying job.
Peggy was a very active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale, where she led a bible study group and served as greeter each Sunday for many years.
Family was everything to Peggy; she was most happy when she was with her family.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, is her son, Daryl S., husband of Mary E. Tobias of Muhlenberg Township.
Also surviving are her two granddaughters, Allison N. (Tobias), wife of Darrin W. Erb and Megan E. Tobias, fiancé of Taylor Cesarz; and two great grandchildren, Ethan W. and Mackenzie E. Erb.
Peggy was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy (Stout) Heath.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, June 17th at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 1009 Elizabeth Avenue, Laureldale. A visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. in the church. Entombment will take place in the columbarium at Calvary Church.
