Marian A. Stephenson, 100, formerly of Reading, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Berks Heim, Bern Township, where she had resided for four years. She was the beloved wife of Lester E. Stephenson, who died in 2013, after 67 years of marriage.
Born in Reading on April 5, 1924, Marian was a daughter of the late John and Emma (Ulrich) Brown. She was employed by Bertolette‘s Homemade Candies until her retirement.
A member of the former Peace Lutheran Church, Riverside, Marian lived a life deeply rooted in faith and devotion.
Marian is survived by her daughter, Linda F., wife of Karl E. Sweigert, Shillington, and daughter-in-law, Ruth Ann Stephenson, West Scranton. She was predeceased by her son, Rev. Lester E. Stephenson, Jr.
Other survivors include a sister, Naomi Reber, Topton, four grandchildren: Kurt Sweigert, Vietnam, Gregg Sweigert (wife Tanya), Lititz, Amy Grant (husband Jeffrey), Pittston, and Joel Stephenson, West Scranton, and three great-granddaughters: Carleigh and Courtney Sweigert and Hazel Grant.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 15th at 11 am in Stitzel Family Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605, with Chaplain Kerry Hicks officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 10:30 am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to the charity of choice in memory of Marian.
