Maxine Gale (Weaver) Heller, 70, died November 21, 2023 in her Tilden Township residence.
Born August 1, 1953 in Reading Hospital, she was a daughter of the late Robert G. and Virginia S. (Bowman) Weaver.
She attended Muhlenberg High School and graduated from Reading High School in 1971. She is also a 1996 graduate from Reading Area Community College, where she earned her nursing degree.
Maxine was first employed as a CNA, certified nursing assistant at Berks Heim until opening her beauty shop, “Maxine Heller’s Beauty Shop” at Moss & Amity Streets, which she ran for several years.
She later worked in the cafeteria at Holy Name High School and then as an auditor with Boscov’s Department Stores.
Maxine last worked as a register nurse at Berks Heim, Bern Township, retiring in November of 2017 as the assistant director of nursing.
She loved cooking and gardening.
Maxine is survived by two children: Melissa Jo Heller of Muhlenberg Township and Robert E. Heller of Temple.
She was the proud grandmother of 4 grandchildren: Samantha P. Nolan; Anthony J. Loy-Heller; Cerissa Loy; and Robert J. “R.J.” Walker; and 3 great grandchildren: Aymen, Nora, and Montana.
Maxine is also survived by a sister, Carol A. (Weaver), widow of Marvin Woerner of Temple and her former spouse, Roderick L. Heller of Muhlenberg Township.
She will also be missed by all of her dogs, cats, and birds.
Viewings will be held Sunday 6:00 – 8:00 pm and Monday 12:30 – 1:30 pm in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale.
Services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 1:30 pm and the burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery.
