Paula "Polly" (Edleman) Sharp

Paula “Polly” (Edleman) Sharp, 71, of Oley, died June 4, 2025 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia. She was surrounded by her adoring family.

She was the loving wife of Keith E. Sharp, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.

Born October 1, 1953, in Pottstown, she was a daughter of Barbara L. (Bean) Thornton of Boyertown, and the late Paul V. Edleman.

Polly graduated from Pottsgrove High School in 1971. She began working at National Bank of Boyertown in the early 1980s and attended Albright College. She then worked at Bell Atlantic (Verizon), training customer service representatives. She finished her career at the Hill School in Pottstown, where she spent nineteen years as the assistant to the headmaster and secretary to the board of trustees.

Polly was a very active member of St. Joseph Hill Lutheran Church, Pike Township, where she served multiple terms on the church council, with a stint as every officer, including president. She spent countless hours in service to the church and the community, volunteering her time.

Family was everything to Polly, and she was the ‘rock’ of the family. For over fifty years she hosted numerous gatherings of family and friends. She also enjoyed all things Disney, including trips with her children and grandchildren. She attended countless sporting events for her children and grandchildren, and her smiling face is fondly remembered by many generations of Oley athletes.

She spent her childhood summers on Long Beach Island, NJ, dipping ice cream at the Frosted Mug in Beach Haven, and the shore was one of her most favorite places in the world. She passed this love of the beach on to her children, and every year the entire family gathered in Beach Haven to enjoy a week of sun, sand, and, most importantly, ice cream. 

Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are her three children: Sean M. Sharp, husband of Laurie of Doylestown; Sara B. (Sharp) Prout, wife of John of Oley; and Seth A. Sharp, husband of Katie Brown of Brooklyn, NY.

In addition, she is survived by her ten grandchildren, as well as her sister, Barbara A. (Edleman) Block of Pacific Grove, CA.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Hill Lutheran Church,  244 Koch Road, Boyertown, PA 19512.  A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the church. A luncheon will follow at Bally Fire Company.
