Raymond Jacob Messner, 91, of Muhlenberg Township and formerly of Birdsboro, died April 27, 2021 in Rittenhouse Village at Muhlenberg, where he had been a guest since April 19th.
Born in Reading, PA on January 1, 1930, he was a son of the late Raymond E. and Elda C. (Quinter) Messner.
He was a 1943 graduate of Birdsboro High School where he was on the Cross Country and Basketball teams.
Raymond was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Township.
He was a self-employed jewelry salesman almost his entire working career.
As a teenager he took two trips to Poland and Germany, working for as a seafaring cowboy with Heifer International, accompanying live stock to help establish the farming industry in those countries after WWII.
He was a member of St. Marco Society, Temple; and had a lifelong love for music.
Raymond was a people person and loved to engage with anyone at any time, usually while listening to some of his favorite music. He had an infectious laugh and was a friend to many people who share fond memories of him.
He is survived by three children: Michael P., husband of Deborah (Donaldson) Messner of Clermont, FL; Lori J. Messner Bradley, widow of Thomas J. Bradley, of Temple, PA; and Mark M., husband of Nancy J. (Braim) Messner of Lancaster, PA.
Raymond was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Lindsay Messner, Ashleigh Messner, Nicole Messner, Luke Messner, and Daniel Messner and three great grandchildren: Hollyce Sumner, Addison Boudet, and Emersyn Boudet.
He was also predeceased by an aunt, Helen Quinter, who was a great influence on him.
Prayer Services will be held Monday, May 3rd at 11:00 AM in Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM in the funeral home.

Burial will be private.
