Reyes Ortiz Soto

Reyes Ortiz Soto, 78, of Laureldale, passed away Tuesday, March 31, at the Reading Hospital surrounded by his family. 

He was the loving husband of Margarita Gallo. 

Born September 27, 1947, in Michoacan, Mexico, he was the son of the late Gabriel Ortiz and Micaela Escobar. 

Growing up in Mexico he had a number of different jobs but after coming to the United States in his 50s he made himself a career at Bell Evans as a maintenance mechanic. 

Reyes loved to stay active in his free time. He enjoyed playing soccer and volleyball even later in his life. What brought him true joy was spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. 

Surviving are five children: Emilio Ortiz Gallo of Laureldale; Micaela Ortiz Gallo, wife of Daniel Manjarez of Mexico; Maria Ortiz Gallo, wife of Luis Caloca of Reading, PA; Carolina Ortiz Gallo of Laureldale; and Gabriel Ortiz Gallo, husband of Gela Chavez. 

Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren. 

Reyes leaves behind four siblings and was predeceased by one brother. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 9th, 2026, at Holy Guardians Angels RCC at 9:30 a.m.. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. A viewing will be held the night prior, Wednesday, April 8th, 2026 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Laureldale, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605.
