Richard Heffner Obituary

Richard Donald Heffner, Sr., 94, died January 21, 2025 in his Laureldale residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Joan B. (Kohler) Heffner, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage.

Born February 17, 1930, he was a son of the late George Stanley and Jennie Sarah (Yoder) Heffner.

Richard was a 1947 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.

He was employed with Beryllium Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1985.  During his employment, he served terms as President and Treasurer of the Union.

Richard served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a member of the Weakenders Camping Club and the Oldtimers Group.

Richard was an avid stock market enthusiast, and enjoyed fishing and camping, but his greatest love was his family.  He was always there to take care of them, share his wisdom and would do anything he could to take their worries away.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his three children: Richard D. Heffner, Jr., husband of Kathleen M. Heffner of Wyomissing; Donna M. (Heffner), wife of David Labe of Muhlenberg Township; and Robin D. Heffner, wife of William E. Davis, Jr. of Pottstown.

Also surviving are his seven grandchildren: Matthew Heffner, Thomas Heffner (Justine), Kelly Heffner (fiancé of Christopher Brant), Lisa Strause, Tara Ring (Joseph), Samantha Milberg (Scott), and Ryan Proietto (Alyssa); and eight great grandchildren: Aiden, Sawyer, Brayden, Jordyn, Bria, Shy, River, and Finley.

Other survivors include his three siblings: Kenneth Heffner (Betty Jane), David Heffner, and Susie Miller (Harvey).

Richard was preceded in death by his brother, George Heffner, and his sister, Virginia “Tootie” DeLong.
