Rodney Lee “Rocky” Rothenberger, 83, of Oley Township and formerly of Muhlenberg Township, died February 11, 2021 in the Lutheran Home at Topton.
He was the husband of Victoria “Vicky” (Funk) Louise Rothenberger, whom he married May 30, 2008.
Rocky was predeceased by his first wife, Joanne F. (Schaeffer) Rothenberger on April 8, 2001.
Born September 17, 1937, in Reading, PA, he was a son of the late Russell E. Sr., and Pauline B. (Heist) Rothenberger.
Rocky was a 1955 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.
He was employed 42 years as a machinery mechanic with Polymer DSM., Reading, retiring September 2000. Rocky always looked forward to his monthly breakfast with the retirees from Polymer.
Rocky enjoyed family vacations to Stone Harbor and Outer Banks and enjoyed bowling, golfing and going to the casinos. He was an avid fan of the Eagles, Penn State and Clemson football.
He was always doing and giving to other people. Rocky was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather; always putting his family first.
He is also survived by a son, Todd R., husband of Jill (Oberholtzer) Rothenberger of Muhlenberg Township.
Rocky was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren: Eric, husband of Katy (Lightner) Rothenberger; Kevin Rothenberger, husband of Julia Matesich; Brooke Rothenberger, and Noah Rothenberger, and a great granddaughter, Tess Rothenberger.
Other survivors include a daughter-in-law, Teresa Rothenberger.
He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey L., who died October 31, 2013 and by a brother, Russell E. Rothenberger, Jr., who died in 1963.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of “C” wing in the Henry Health Care Center at the Lutheran Home at Topton and the Lehigh Valley Hospice for their loving and extraordinary care.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 17th at 11:00 am Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Services will be live streamed from Rocky’s obituary on the funeral home website.
Family and friends may call Wednesday from 9:00 – 11:00 am in the funeral home.
The family requests that dress be casual or wear your favorite sports apparel.
Burial will be held privately in Spies-Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township.
