Roseann Candiello Obituary

Roseann C. Candiello, 66, of Lititz, passed away March 30, 2023, in Lancaster General Hospital with her loving family by her side.  She valiantly fought cancer for over 4 years.  During that time, she continued to work at Manheim Township School District with her beloved colleagues and the children that she appreciated helping as a Certified School Nurse.  She celebrated life every day with her abiding faith in God and sometimes went cruising to far away places with friends and family.

She was the wife of Vincent Candiello for 28 years, who was her advocate and caregiver throughout her illness.  Together, they parented their daughter, Katelyn Candiello, an actor/singer/dancer and speech-language pathologist, who gave them great joy in the many shows she was in.  Through Katelyn, they met numerous theatrical participants who provided many hours of entertainment either at the theatre or at cast parties held at their home.

Born May 26, 1956, in Palmerton, Pa, Roseann was the daughter of the late George and Rose ( Sommers) York.  She missed them greatly as they were her rocks in her formative years, guiding lights in her adult life, and will love the welcome they give her in heaven.

She was a graduate of Marian Catholic High School, Tamaqua, Pa.  She received her registered nurse degree from St. Luke’s Nursing School; a bachelor’s of science in nursing from Millersville University; and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Delaware.

Roseann had an extensive career in her chosen field.  Following her introduction to nursing at Lancaster General Hospital, she worked for St. Joseph Hospital in Lancaster for over 29 years. During her career at St. Joseph, she held increasingly responsible positions including: director of nursing education, assistant director and director of nursing, Chief Nursing Officer, and Chief Operating Officer.  Roseann finished her nursing career working for the Manheim Township School District as a certified school nurse for 15 years.

She loved traveling, going on cruises and most of all spending time with her family and friends.   She visited Disney on numerous occasions and brought various members of her family to enjoy the experience.  Roseann loved hosting parties and spent hours thinking about others in what they would enjoy and appreciate.  Roseann also loved animals.  Her favorite dog was Belle, a male Maltese who crossed the rainbow bridge in 2013.  She also enjoyed and loved two Bichon/Shit Tzus, Mickey and Zoe, who spent many hours comforting her as “nurse” dogs when illness made her days difficult.

Throughout her life, Roseann presented as a kind, loving, and caring person who tried to better the lives of those with whom she came in contact.  She accentuated the positive whenever possible.  She was known as “Mom” for many theatre members, school classmates, colleagues, and friends of the family.  She was a special lady whose classy appearance matched her courage in life.

Surviving in addition to her husband and daughter are step children: Catherine "Cati", wife of Ryan High of Lancaster, Robert Candiello of York and her grandson: Julian Candiello. Also surviving  is her brother George Albert York of Summit Hill, her nephew Daniel York, niece Sharon York along with many, many cousins.  A special appreciation is noted for Daniel who lived with Roseann and Vincent for the past nine years.

A funeral service will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Lancaster, PA at 11 a.m. on May 13, 2023, to be followed by a wake at Bent Creek Country Club from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
