Russell R. Hoover

Russell Raymond Hoover, Sr., 81 of Laureldale died October 15, 2023. He was the loving husband of the late Karen Eizabeth (Roth) Hoover.

Born December 15, 1941 in Reading, to the late Ethel Naomi (Shuman) and Charles Samuel Hoover. He graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1959. In 1964 Russell was drafted to serve in the US Army and spent one tour in Vietnam. Upon his return he worked as a mechanic and eventually was hired by Carpenter Steel Technology where he worked for over 30 years.

Russell enjoyed fishing and boating with his wife on the Indian River, DE; watching action movies; rooting for the Phillies and Eagles; tanning while doing yard work; and drinking a beer and eating a cheesesteak.

Surviving is a son, Russell R. Jr. and his wife, Nancy (Lee) Hoover of Massachusetts; a daughter, Melissa (Hoover) Gray and her husband Stephen Gray of California; and two grandchildren Jordan and Mackenzie Hoover. He is also survived by in-laws Larry and Sharron Roth as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Karen, Russell is predeceased by his five brothers and four sisters.

He was the last surviving sibling from the large Hoover family of Kutztown Road.
