Russell Richard Manwiller

Russell Richard Manwiller, 87, of Birdsboro, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025 at the Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  

He was the husband of Beverly (Christy) Manwiller. 

Born on January 13, 1938 in Laureldale, PA, he was the son of the late Russell H. Manwiller and Miriam (Miller) Manwiller. 

Russell was a 1955 graduate of Muhlenberg High School. After high school Russell joined the Navy for a couple of years and then moved to the reserves. When he returned home Russell later went on to obtain his bachelor's degree from Kutztown University and then his master's degree in Engineering from Century University. 

During Russell’s working years he was employed as a computer engineer for a number of companies such as GPU, Reading Hospital, TRW, and IBM. In his earlier years Russell enjoyed playing baseball and was even drafted to play in the major leagues. He loved staying active and would hunt, fish, and trap shoot in his free time. Russell learned to fly while he lived in Texas so in his free time enjoyed flying planes, skydiving, and flying RC planes. What brought him true joy was spending time with his family and his dog, Bella. 

Surviving are three children: Lori-Lynn (Manwiller) McWilliams, wife of Robert Jr. of Reading; Bradley Manwiller, husband of Lynn (Buchanan) Manwiller of Reading; and Michael Manwiller, husband of Letitia (Shomo) Manwiller of Reading. 

Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Ryan; Michael; Sarah; Valerie; Tyler; Rachel; and Abigail. As well as four great grandchildren: Brayden; Everly; Clara; and Cash. 

Two brothers are also surviving, Royce Manwiller of West Lawn, and Robert Manwiller. 

Russell was predeceased by two siblings, Ronald Manwiller, and Richard Manwiller. 

A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Laureldale. At 4:30 p.m. the family will be sharing stories and would like to invite others to share memories of Russell.
