Samuel Henry Moatz, 88 of Reading, passed away November 25, 2023 at Manor at Market Square.
He was the husband of the late Ruth Mary (Kantner) Moatz, who passed away in 2013.
Born June 28, 1935, in Lyons, PA, he was the son of the late Paul Nathan and Elda (Weidner) Moatz.
Samuel was employed by NGK Metals as a plumber. He and his late wife lived in Rehoboth Beach after retirement for 14 years.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Samuel was a member of American Legion Post #945.
Samuel loved boating and fishing with his wife.
He was a past member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fleetwood.
Surviving are his three children: Robert S. Moatz of Temple; Terry L, husband of Rose Moatz of Womelsdorf and Cheryl Moatz of Florida.
Grandchildren: Brandon Moatz, Rebeka Moatz, Kristin Snyder and Lydia Snyder and a great grandson, Benjamin Moatz.
Also surviving are his siblings: Mary Jane Escriche of Arkansas; Mamie M. Phillips of Fleetwood, Helen Christman of Wyomissing.
He was preceded in death by Earl Glance Moatz, Raymond B. Moatz, Robert N. Moatz, William Moatz, Herbert D. Moatz and Glance Moatz.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
