Sandra Karli Obituary

Sandra Lee Karli, 82, left this world March 22, 2023 in her Spring Township residence surrounded in love by her family.

She married Robert Edward Karli Sr (1939-2011) on January 24, 1959. They spent 52 beautiful years together and built a life full of love and respect.

Born in West Reading, PA on August 22, 1940, Sandra was the daughter of the late Clarence "Sam" M. Hirneisen and Lydia M. (Meyer) Hirneisen Cozzone.

Sandra attended West Reading High School.

She was employed with and owned several businesses, starting as a candy striper with the Reading Hospital; a waitress for many years at Stokesay Castle; a candy maker with Bortz Candy, Muhlenberg Township; a floral designer with both Kehr's Flower Shop and Acacia Flowers for several years.

Sandra later owned Karli's Kreations, Muhlenberg Township for 8 years where she instructed classes on ceramic making; later Sanshell Florist, Muhlenberg Township partnering with her eldest daughter Michelle; and lastly Icon Salon, Reading, before retiring.

She enjoyed the warm weather months and spent countless hours on her porch swing at her beach house in OCMD reading books.  She also loved going to the beach, slot machines, playing cards, baking and making candy, and spending time with her kids and grandchildren. Sandi was known by many as their second mom. She made everyone feel welcome in her home at any time, gave an ear when needed, and the best advice when asked. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her.

Sandra for many years was a member of the board of directors with the Columbia Court Homeowners Association.

She was the amazing mother of five children: Michelle Ann, wife of Brian I. Wardhammar, of Sinking Spring; Robert E. Karli Jr., husband of Marcia L. (Goeltz) Karli of Maidencreek Township; Jolyn Marie Karli of Wernersville; Danielle S., wife of James C. Sheipe of Muhlenberg Township; and Stefanie J. Karli, companion of Steve E. Heebner of Lower Heidelberg Township.

Sandra is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Kyle Greth, Ashley Karli, Nicholas Greth, Brooke Barbon, Ariel Damore, Devon Sheipe, Sidney Damore, Callie Wardhammar, and Alex Sheipe and one great granddaughter, Adalynn Barbon.

An open house celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 2nd from 1pm until 4pm at Craft 2700 at Freymoyer's with a blessing and moments to regale our stories of Sandi and how she touched our lives beginining at 2:30 pm.. Sandi's ashes in part will be combined with Bob's and laid to rest at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville on a later date. The remainder of both will be spread at the beach and in the ocean where they both loved spending their time.
