Scott Martin Schaffer, 71, died May 31, 2022, in his Muhlenberg Township residence.
He was the loving husband of Darlene M. (Adams) Schaffer, with whom he shared 22 years of marriage.
Born, January 31, 1951, in Reading, he was a son of the late Martin L. Schaffer and Ardelle A. (Rigg) Templin.
Scott was a 1968 graduate of Reading High School.
He was employed with General Battery, later Exide Battery, for 35 years, retiring in 2006.
A former member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, Scott served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a very active volunteer at the church for many years.
Very active in the community, Scott was a volunteer with the American Red Cross for many years, as well as various food banks. He also enjoyed woodworking in his private woodshop. Scott was a diehard Eagles and Phillies fan. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family in Wildwood, NJ.
Surviving are his two children: Corey S. Schaffer of West Lawn and Giana M. Schaffer of Temple; and two grandsons, Aaron M. Schaffer and Steven B. Schaffer.
Also surviving is his brother, Stephen L. Schaffer, husband of Debra A. of Hyde Park.
Scott was preceded in death by two sons, Steven P. Schaffer in 1985 and Michael M. Schaffer in 2019.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 6th from 5-7 p.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, (Laureldale) Reading.
