Shirley Ann (Kowaleski-Masley) Garl, 88, formerly of Sinking Spring passed away June 13, 2024 at Berks Heim.
She was the wife of the late John Dennis Garl, who passed away in 2022 and John J. Masley who died in 2000.
Born November 29, 1935 in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul P. and Gladys J. (Donato) Kowaleski.
She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels and St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church.
Shirley was a graduate of Reading High School and attended Albright College for banking. She also attended Penn State Berks and received her certificate as a paralegal.
She was employed by CitiBank for 5 years and then went to work for Graff Bros. Trading Co, Reading, PA, then her family business Ram Industries in Lititz, as the Vice President, Secretary Treasurer until retiring in 2003.
Shirley loved reading and was an avid Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles and Flyers fan.
She is survived by her sons:Christopher S. Garl of Laureldale and Jan K. Garl of Blandon.
Grandchildren: Ty J. Garl and Emily Marie Garl.
Great grandchildren: Evelyn Garl and a brother: Ronald Kowaleski.
Two of her favorite sayings were "treat people the way you want to be treated" and "never forget where you came from".
A viewing will be held Wednesday, June 19th from 11am - 1pm in the Stitzel Funeral Home, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale PA 19605.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
