Shirley A. Torakeo, 92, died on April 4, 2024 while on hospice care.
She formerly lived at 610 E. Bellevue Avenue, Laureldale, she was the Army wife of David P. Torakeo (aka Trochio).
Born in Bethel, PA, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Blanford) Wanner and was one of eleven children.
Shirley was a 1949 graduate of Bethel High School. She enjoyed reading the newspaper and attending Reading Phillies ballgames.
She is survived by her three children: David P. Torakeo, Jr., James R. Torakeo, and Sharon M. (Torakeo) Dubs.
Other survivors include her three siblings, Ralph Wanner, Ronald Wanner, and Mary (Wanner) Emerich.
There are also numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren surviving.
Shirley will especially be missed by her grandson, James M. Torakeo, who she helped raise.
Services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m.
