Shirley Mae (Kline) Viering, 96, of Temple, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at the Reading Hospital.
She was the loving wife to her husband, Louis F. Viering who died in 2016.
Born November 2, 1928, in Laureldale. Shirley and her beloved husband lived in Muhlenberg Twp. all of their lives. They were happily married for 67 years.
Shirley was a 1946 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.
She was employed as a department manager at Boscov’s and retired from Camp Hosiery Knitting Mills.
Shirley had a green thumb and especially loved growing roses, tomatoes, and vegetables. Baking cherry pies from her backyard cherry tree, cooking, sewing, and teaching crafts to others brought enjoyment to all. Her neighborhood Easter Egg Hunts were cherished memories. Shirley’s main joy in life came from spending as much time as possible with her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters: Sharon Miller, widow of David Miller of Sinking Spring; Cynthia Viering of San Diego, CA; and Pamela Miozza of Mohnton.
Surviving are also four grandchildren: Kristi-Lynne Dahlgren; Erika Cuevas (Ryan); Jaclyn Bangs (Hoyt); and Jillian Walsh (Patrick).
Also surviving are four great grandchildren: Clark Cuevas; Navy Cuevas; Sophia Bangs; and Adeline Walsh and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving brother, Leo Phillips.
A service will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 11 AM at the Stitzel Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605. Family visitation will be held prior, from 10 AM - 11 AM at the same location. Burial will follow at Laureldale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
