Stella (Gorka) Williams

Stella (Gorka) Williams, 88, went to be with the Lord on June 27, 2023, at Manor at Market Square, Reading.

She was the widow of Gerald H. Williams, who died March 12, 2021.  They had shared 65 years of marriage.

Born October 22, 1934, in Coaldale, Carbon County, she was raised in Lansford.  The youngest daughter of 8 children, Stella was born to the late Vincent and Stella (Marszalek) Gorka. 

She was a graduate of Lansford High School and Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. 

Stella was employed as a registered nurse with Allentown General Hospital before working as a private duty nurse for many years.  She ended her career as a teacher’s assistant with Bethlehem Area School District. 

Stella was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church, Easton and Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church, Bethlehem.  She was a charter member of Grace Evangelical Free Church, Allentown.  Most recently she attended Community Baptist Church of Fleetwood.  Stella was a former Sunday school teacher, choir member and junior choir leader. 

She was a volunteer with Bethlehem Christian School.

Surviving are her four children: Cathy A., wife of Walter Santo Domingo of Blandon; Jeanette “Jeanie”, wife of Mark Tress of Ormond Beach, FL; Gerald V. Williams, husband of Carol A. (Stuart) of Royersford; and Andrea D., wife of Barry D. Stern of Muhlenberg Township.

Also surviving are her eight grandchildren: Lauren E. Miller, Sandra F. Kanjumba, Shannon O’Palka, Kristine N. Fulks, Kari L. Copeland, Gerald A. Williams, Bethany F. Stern, and Jacob M. Stern; and four great grandchildren: Piper Weand, Selah Fulks, Ava O’Palka, and Paul Copeland.

In addition, Stella is survived by her sister, Sophie Modric of Lansford.

She was preceded in death by six siblings: Anna, Peter, Charles, Stanley, Thaddeus, and Joseph; and by her half-brother, James.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, July 3rd, at 11 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale.  Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
