Stephen Ditsky Obituary

Stephen Michael Ditsky, 94, of Muhlenberg Township, died April 4, 2026, at Laureldale Nursing & Rehabilitation, Muhlenberg Township.  He was the husband of Joan Marie (Ruby) Ditsky.

Born December 13, 1931, in Lansford, Carbon County, Stephen was a son of the late Stephen M. Ditsky, Sr. and Elizabeth (Vahovich) Ditsky.

After graduating Lansford High School in 1949, Steve joined the U.S. Army.  He attended the Army Security Agency School in Fort Devens, Mass and the National Security in Washington, D.C.  Most of his tour duty was at Two Rock Ranch Station in Petaluma, CA and Hertzo Base, outside of Nuremberg, Germany.  He was honorably discharged in 1954.  He was a member of the American Legion.

Steve graduated from Kutztown State Teachers College in 1959 with a B.S. in Education and majors in English and History.  While in college he was on the varsity football team and on the track team.  He was President for 4 years of the men’s intramural athletic association and a member of the resident men’s council.  Steven continued his post-graduate education at Hofstra University on Long Island.

He began teaching U.S. History and English at North Harford High School in Maryland.  He taught English for 8 years at Kings Park High School on Long Island.  Steve finished his teaching career at Brandywine Heights High School in Topton.  At Kings Park he coached J.V. Football and Varsity Basketball and at Brandywine Heights he coached golf for 8 years.

Upon retiring from teaching, Steve worked at Sams Club, Temple where he was supervisor of the demo department from 1998-2011.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and gardening.

Steve is survived by his wife of 66 years; his two daughters, Joan D. (Ditsky) Sandritter of Temple and Sharon J. (Ditsky), wife of George R. Lobb of Blandon.

There are also five grandchildren: Jesse R. Lobb (Kayleigh); Nathan S. Lobb (Hannah), Stephanie N. (Sandritter) Sullivan (Patrick); Rachel M. Sandritter, and Sydney R. (Lobb) McDonnell (Tyler); and two great granddaughters, Maisie J. Lobb and Sadie A. Lobb.

Stephen was preceded in death by his sisters, Rose McHugh and Betty Aquila.

Burial will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
