Thelma Almeda (Herner) Downer

Thelma Almeda (Herner) Downer, 80, of Oley, died July 24, 2021 in Tower Health / Reading Hospital. 

Born November 28, 1940 in her Pike Township residence, she was a daughter of the late Eston H. Herner Sr., and Catherine M. (Willman) Herner. 

She was the wife of Charles Daniel Downer, whom she married January 31, 1959. 

Thelma was employed with both Boyertown Packaging and Boyertown Shoe Factory. 

She was last employed 10 years as a cook with the Pleasantville Diner. 

She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Her hobbies that she enjoyed so much were playing cards, camping, fishing, painting pictures and wooden crafts, going to auctions and making Christmas ornaments. She also enjoyed sitting outside watching and listening to the birds, admiring the beautiful flowers. She loved life by enjoying every single day.

Thelma was the loving mother to three children: Trudy I. (Downer), wife of Walter Prutzman of Oley; Kathy F. (Downer), wife of Gary A. Stufflet, Sr., of Oley; and Charles D. Downer, Jr., husband of Kymberly S. (Becker) Downer of Exeter Township. 

She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Rick D. Prutzman, Christina L. (Prutzman), wife of Nick Angstadt, Gary A. Stufflet Jr., Monica M. Stufflet, Rebecca E. Downer, Sarah A. Downer, and Emily N. Downer. 

Thelma was predeceased by her four siblings: Anna Snyder, Esther Vandine, Eston H. Herner, Jr., and Mary Alice Boyer.
