Timothy James Matthews

Timothy James Matthews, 58, died October 10, 2023 in his Maidencreek Township residence.

Born October 13, 1964 in Pittsburgh, PA., he was a son of Edward J. Matthews, Sr., and Dorothy Lillian (Tulisiak) Matthews, of Pittsburgh.

He was the beloved husband of Irina "Ira" (Shevyakova) Matthews, whom he married April 29, 2004.

Timothy was a 1982 graduate of Baldwin Whitehall High School, Pittsburgh, and a 1988 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

He was the loving father of Anton Chernyak.

Timothy is also survived by his siblings: Ed, Jr. (Paula), David (the late Christine), Bob, and the late Mary Powell, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Tim had a passion for the guitar, loved to fish and was an avid outdoorsman. Above all, his greatest love was family. He will be missed dearly.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227 on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral prayer on Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. Burial in Queen of Heaven Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Germaine Church at 12:00 p.m. If desired, family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memorials Processing, Memphis, TN 38105.
