William Edmond McVeigh, 84, of Pike Township, died May 2, 2025, at Berks Heim, Bern Township.
He was the loving husband of Jeanne Lee (Speicher) McVeigh, with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.
Born July 22, 1940, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William A. and Florence M. (Zimmerman) McVeigh.
William was a 1958 graduate of Upper Darby High School.
He was employed as a plant/maintenance supervisor with Giorgio Foods for 29 years, retiring in 2010.
William served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He was a member of Zion-Spies Lutheran Church, Alsace Township.
William was a member of the Oley VFW, and Tin Can Sailor Association.
An animal lover, he also enjoyed art and history. He was a hard worker, and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed going to casinos, traveling to the beach, especially in Cancun and the Bahamas. William especially loved going to his beach house in Cap May and walking the BoardWalk in Wildwood with his wife Jeanne.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his two children: William P. McVeigh, husband of Emily (Phillinger) of Reunion, FL and Colleen (McVeigh) Simmers, wife of Richard of Burlington, NJ.
In addition he is survived by his son, Jason B. Smith, husband of Valerie (DeCarlo) Smith of Exeter Township.
Other survivors include his two granddaughters, Gianna Patricia Smith and Ava Jean Smith; and his brother, Dennis McVeigh, husband of Karen of Chadds Ford, PA.
He was predeceased in death by one sister, Arlene F. Oakley.
Services will be held Friday May 9, 2025, at 11 am.m at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 423 Main Street, Oley. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Spies-Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
