William Ernest Rigby, 100, passed away peacefully, in his Alsace Township residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the loving husband of Grace Audrey (Turley) Rigby, with whom he spent 74 years of marriage.
Born February 25, 1922, in Bibury, UK, he was a son of the late Harold and Lillian (Ratcliff) Rigby.
William served in the British Navy during World War II.
He was employed as a machinist with Continental Can for 30 years, retiring in 1984. After retirement, he went on to work part-time at Reading Airport, for 20 years.
As an artist, William enjoyed painting, especially watercolor and oil paintings; and he also had an interest in stones, in which he faceted for many years, making pieces for relatives to wear over the years.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his son, Jeffrey P., husband of Bambi J. (Koch) Rigby of Exeter Township, and his son-in-law, Robert Moore of Blandon.
Also surviving are his two grandchildren: Carly, wife of Blaise Veech, and Austin, husband of Amanda Rigby; a great grandson, Brody Veech, and a great granddaughter, expected next week.
Other survivors include his two sisters, Ann Watkins and Mary Bickle of Whales, UK.
William was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Rigby-Moore, who died in 2017, and by his two sisters, Betty Smith, and Mary Anderson.
