January 17, 1927 ~ October 18, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Joan Kauffman Crosby of Exeter Township, passed away on October 18, 2017 after a brief illness.  She was 90 years, 9 months old.

Joan was born in Chicago, IL, to George and Frances (Olson) Kauffman.

She spent most of the early part of her life in New Jersey and graduated from Scotch Plains High School (N.J.), in 1944. 

After her marriage to Charles Crosby, Joan lived in Colorado and New Jersey before settling in Exeter Township, PA.

Joan is survived by three children: Scott Crosby and his wife Rhoda, of South Carolina; Daryl Crosby, of Illinois and Dana Hartz and her husband Joe, of Fleetwood, PA.

She is also survived by five grandchildren: Dennis Anderson, North Carolina; Katya Anderson, Michigan; Jacob Hartz, Meredith Hartz and Nicholas Hartz, all of Fleetwood, PA and one great-grandchild, Garret Wuornos, of Michigan.

Joan is also survived by her sister, Gayle, widow of Chris Helbig, of Maine and her brothers, Keith Kauffman and wife Fran, of Alabama and Kirk Kauffman and wife Doris, of New Jersey, in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Joan was pre-deceased by her son, Michael Jay Crosby; sister, Phyllis and her husband Stafford MacArthur and brother, Kent Kauffman.

Joan was a very talented artist, enjoyed gardening and was a life-long animal lover.  She was a doting grandmother and enjoyed a great sense of humor.

She earned her pilots license and soloed her first flight in 1946.

Joan worked for GAI-Tronics Corporation in Mohnton, PA for 18 years, retiring in 1989.

Among her most treasured memories was vacation time on Chebeague Island, Maine with her parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She enjoyed the beaches, the lobsters and mostly the family time.

Funeral services will be private at the discretion of the family.
