Mark J. Smith, 68, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20 in his home with his loving wife by his side.  He was the husband of Linda (Olanin-Christ) Smith, celebrating 27 adventurous years of marriage together.

Born in Reading on January 15, 1949, Mark was the son of Mary (Fiucci), wife of the late Joseph Smith and the step son of the late Eugene McClelland. He was a 1966 graduate of Central Catholic High School.

Mark was a journeyman tool and die maker, last working for East Penn Manufacturing, before retiring in 2016.

Anyone who knew Mark will always remember him by his love for all the MGs he owned over the years.  His second joy was volunteering his time at the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum.

In addition to his wife and mother, Mark is survived by his two brothers:  Tom, husband of Karen, Mt. Penn, and Ed, husband of Veronica, Reading.  He has one daughter, Lisa, wife of Mike Wentzel, West Reading, and two step sons:  Steve Christ, husband of Shin, West Lawn, and Jim Christ, husband of Traci, Shillington.

Also surviving is his grandson Tony Filippini, and two step grandchildren: Cassandra and Hayden Christ.  There are also two stepsisters:  Carol (McClelland) Engelman and Kathy (McClelland) Baisch, wife of Scott, Reading.

A memorial service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held in Good Shepherd UCC, 170 Tuckerton Road, Reading, PA 19605 on Saturday, June 3 at 1PM.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Mark’s memory to the church.
